The former Anambra State governor Peter Obi has once again stirred reactions online after throwing heavy shades during his official dec|aration for the ADC presidential ticket in Akwa Ibom.
The former Anambra State governor and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress didn’t hold back as he referenced the certificate controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu.
While addressing his supporters on Saturday, Obi claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump once described Nigeria as a “di$graced country” because, according to him, a certificate forger is allowed to become president.
Obi recounted a visit to Indonesia where he reportedly asked their election body about the qualifications required to run for president. According to him, when he raised a hypothetical case of certificate f0rgery, he was told such a person would be jai|ed immediately.
Taking a swipe at Nigeria’s system, Obi compared it to the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which had earlier dismissed the certificate f0rgery allegations against Tinubu, describing it as a pre-election matter. “What a country,” Obi reportedly said, adding that such situations are why Nigeria is being mocked internationally.
Meanwhile, Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, has not issued any official response to Obi’s latest comments.Recall that the controversy surrounding Tinubu’s certificate from Chicago State University gained global attention after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar soμght legal backing in the United States to obtain Tinubu’s academic records, citing alleged incoπsisteπcies in publicly available documents

Tinubu had 0pposed the move in a U.S. federal court, attempting to block the release of his academic files. However, Nigeria’s apex court eventually upheld his election victory, dismissing fresh evidence linked to the certificate $aga.
