Peter Obi Leads Massive “Occupy National Assembly” Protest Against Senate

Abuja – Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Monday led a massive crowd of youths, civil society activists, women’s groups, and opposition figures to the National Assembly, in a dramatic show of defiance against the Senate’s rejection of electronic transmission of election results.

The protest, dubbed “Occupy National Assembly”, erupted as Obi and demonstrators demanded lawmakers reverse the controversial clause in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, warning that the Senate’s decision threatens electoral transparency and public trust.

“Allow the election to go through the normal process. Whatever the outcome is, we will accept it. Why introduce confusion after the process?” Obi declared to an energized crowd.
